I know it is a bit early for a rest day, but the city of Porto merits more than a passing glance. It is Portugal’s second city, classified as World Heritage by UNESCO, set either side of the river Douro. It is large and attractive, very busy and touristy, but in a nice sort of way.

We enjoy a few hours walking around and taking in the sights, ancient churches, monuments, riverside outdoor eating, backstreets of the types of shops seen 50 years ago in the UK. Ken was taken with a nut and bolt shop – yawn.

We also discover a McDonalds hidden away and I test out my theory that their WiFi will not let you down no matter where you are in the world. Yes! Photos uploaded and ready to go.
