Fact about Sanlucar de Barrameda, Fernando de Magellan set out from here on 20 September 1591 on his three year round the world tour.

We check out where we need to catch our boat for our three hour voyage tomorrow.

Then we take a stroll along the promenade and generally feel at a loose end.  We did briefly consider going for a bike ride but decide a day off the bikes may give some of our aches and pains a rest.

 

We finish the afternoon taking tea in the penthouse bar of our hotel which gives a spectacular view of the city.  One problem of cycle touring is that you end up very underdressed in such places.  We sat opposite a woman wearing a little black dress and big brimmed hat looking like Audrey Hepburn (her not me), I was in zip off shorts and cycling shoes.  I’m off to dress for dinner now – going to zip the legs on my shorts.
