Another sunny day, but unlike yesterday, it is hot and humid right from the start. The riding is easy on the riverside path. Having read the route guide last night it claimed that Regensburg, the city we are heading for, is “one of the most impressive cities of Europe”. So, we’ve decided that we will have a short ride, find somewhere to stay in Regensburg and take a look.
We pass a campsite on the outskirts of the city, but when I take a sneaky look to see what it is like, it is another of those with a tiny patch of weeds set aside for tents. We carry on. As we pass through the city I enquire about a room at a couple of hotels, but they are already full. Maybe we’ll be back at the scruffy campsite after all. However, we do find ourselves a hotel on the far side of the city and set off on foot to explore.
We decide to pass on the two wheeled tour of the city, although we would probably feel more at home than on our feet.
Well, everyone is entitled to their opinion but as far as I am concerned there is nothing particularly special about Regensburg. It is nice enough and is obviously popular as it is heaving with tourists. Still, at least we can anticipate a mosquito free night.
