We decide that we need a day off to regain our equilibrium.
The sun is shining at 7am, great weather to wash the kit, charge up the phones etc with the solar panel and take a stroll along the seafront. First though, we must track down those supplies. The one thing I did learn from my wasted trip to the supermarket last night was that they were going to open today for a couple of hours in the morning. We’re off straight away before breakfast, mainly because there is nothing left that we can eat or drink.
Yes, true to their word, they are open and we get everything we want. When we emerge we are met with torrential rain – the sky is black as night. How did that happen? There was no sign of rain when we went in. We waited a while, but it looked like it was set for the day. So we just had to load up the bikes and get wet. So much for the washing idea.
We sit out the worst of the rain in a bar over lunch. The wind is gale force now so we take the brave decision that we will do the washing and hope the wind blows it dry without the sun.
