So, I’ve managed to update the web-page as we have found a camp-site with both electricity and a WiFi connection that works. It is a great spot right on the shore of Lake Geneva.
It is absolutely baking hot, as it was yesterday actually, more than 30 degrees and so we’re sitting in the shade reading until it cools off. Tonight we’ll go for a walk along the shore. The camping office provide free bus passes to get into the city and so tomorrow we’ll catch the bus into town and start the hunt for foam padding and sticky tape, which we’ll need for packing the bikes to go on the plane. Getting the bikes to the airport, packing them and all the panniers so they can go on the flight is a logistical nightmare that we have avoided up until now. Not looking forward to that at all.
I’ve calculated the total distance cycled during the trip – 3664 kilometres or 2290 miles. The distance cycled up the Rhine was 1617 kilometres – a little more than the published length but we did deviate off the route here and there.
