Day 105 – Julilla to Caravaca de la Cruz – 84 kms

July 15, 2011

We’re up early, on the bikes, heads down and peddling – no messing around.  It is nice and cool and cloudy to start the day.   We are riding through an area of open semi-desert with very few signs of habitation – once we leave Jumilla it is 50 km before we reach the next town.  We make great progress and cover the 50 km in just over 2 hours. We know we’re getting near home because ´Granada´ has started to appear on the road-signs and a lorry passed us from Velez-Malaga, a town only 40 km from where we live.

Then the sun comes out and it gets hotter and hotter and we get slower and slower.    We are glad to reach Caravaca and find a nice air-conditioned hotel room for the rest of the day.  We’ll be climbing mountains again tomorrow so we have our fingers crossed for clouds, but somehow I think we are going to be disappointed.
