After yesterday´s headlong pursuit of the illusive 100 km target, we planned for today to be a more leisurely cruise. The idea being that we cover about 80 km and arrive nice and early in Tarancón to give us time to sort out the washing etc etc. It was not to be; a strong wind was directly in our faces all the way, so we ended up spending the same amount of time in the saddle as yesterday (over similar terrain) just to clock up 83 km. Shows how much difference the weather can make.
Towards the end of the ride we moved away from the vineyards and into an area of vast fields of cereals – very reminiscent of Lincolnshire. Looking at the map we think tomorrow will bring a return of the hills.
An update on the squeak – Ken thinks it is his cassette locking ring. I think he has made that up and just wants to justify carrying a full tool kit and enough spare parts to build another bike. For the moment we are living with the squeak, but I think I know what we’ll be doing on our next day off.
