We awake after a night of thunderstorms with most things we possess either damp or wet. It takes longer than normal to pack everything and set off in search of breakfast. Our diet on this trip has been varied, to say the least, and I´m not sure that hot chocolate and apple pie and cream at 11.30 am constitutes a healthy breakfast, however, we´re taking the approach of eating whatever is available when we can rather than searching for what we want and getting nothing.
The sky is dark with threatening clouds and there is a strong gusty wind. A very different day to yesterday. We take a break for lunch in a bus shelter during a sudden cloud-burst which threatens to wash us away before we do battle with a wind that threatens to blow us away. We cut the day short in the large city of ´s-Hertogenbosch so that we can find a hotel to dry out our camping stuff, as well as finding a WiFi connection. McDonalds turns out to be the best place for WiFi, where we get so engrossed in uploading our photos to ´Biketrippin´ that we don´t notice that it closes and the staff lock up, locking us in (Ken´s idea of heaven – being trapped with fast-food all night). Fortunately, the cleaner finds us tapping away on the computer and lets us out so we don´t spend all night in there. We´ll need to return tomorrow to update the journal.
