Today we decide to change our objectives; we forget about our planned route and focus entirely on heading for somewhere with an internet connection, food and somewhere to stay – hopefully all at the same place. A big sea-side holiday resort seems the most likely to meet these criteria. So we set off for Les Sables D’Olonne.
The roads seem quieter – perhaps all the traffic was due to the Easter holiday. We are able to follow cycle tracks for part of the way.
On the outskirts of Les Sables we spot McDonalds – too good an opportunity to miss for accessing the internet (although it doesn’t work that well and I can’t upload my pictures). We get trapped here for an hour due to a thunderstorm – should we eat whilst we can or wait for something better when we reach our destination? We decide, based on previous experience, that we should eat while we can especially as it will not be a baguette or a pizza. Of course, when we arrive in Les Sables there are loads of different restaurants, offering all possible menus and all open even at 10pm.
