The ride today is along a quiet road, firstly up and over a range of hills and then running alongside the Rio Tajo. We are surrounded by very pretty woodland. It should be a real pleasure but it is spoilt by the constant battle against the wind.
We narrowly avert disaster when, although carefully preparing by switching on our lights and lifting up our sunglasses, we enter a tunnel, Ken hits a pothole, his sunglasses drop down over his eyes so he can’t see where he is going and I nearly run into him. Time to take a break I think.
We decide to set up camp for the first time. At last, we´re all sorted – time for a welcome shower. Ken returns after some time all scrubbed and glowing, warning me to take care of the hot water. I return sulking after a quick dip under the freezing cold water in the ladies showers.
